Banda Aceh — UIN Ar-Raniry held a field evaluation for the establishment of the Doctoral Program in Arabic Language Education (PhD-PBA) at its Graduate School on Friday (May 1, 2026). The event was attended by field evaluators from the Indonesian Ministry of Religious Affairs, namely Muhammad Sirozi, M.A., Ph.D. (Evaluator 1) and Ryan Febrianto, M.Ed. (Evaluator 2), as well as a representative of the Directorate of Islamic Higher Education, Faris Haris.
The Rector of UIN Ar-Raniry, Mujiburrahman, expressed his appreciation for the presence of the evaluation team and conveyed his hope that the assessment process would proceed smoothly so that the official permit for opening the doctoral program could be issued soon. “We hope that all submitted documents meet the required standards. If there are still shortcomings, we are ready to make immediate improvements so that the establishment of this program can proceed quickly,” he stated.
On the same occasion, the Rector also shared updates on the plan to establish a Faculty of Medicine at UIN Ar-Raniry. According to him, the proposal process has entered the field evaluation stage after all requirements were declared to meet the standards. “God willing, the field assessment for the Faculty of Medicine will take place in June. We hope the operational permit can be issued this year,” he said.
Meanwhile, Prof. Muhammad Sirozi appreciated the development of UIN Ar-Raniry, noting its significant progress in both academic and infrastructure aspects. “UIN Ar-Raniry has developed very rapidly and has now become one of the leading Islamic universities in Indonesia. This is certainly the result of the long-standing efforts of its leadership and academic community,” he remarked. He also urged the proposal drafting team to promptly revise several points noted by the evaluators so that the assessment process can be followed up without delay.
In line with this, Dr. Ryan emphasized the importance of strengthening the uniqueness and distinction of the Doctoral Program in Arabic Language Education so that it has a clear identity compared to similar programs at national and international levels. According to him, the scientific framework, graduate learning outcomes, and curriculum need to be formulated specifically to enhance the program’s academic appeal for prospective students.
