[PS UINAR] UIN Ar-Raniry Postgraduate School Holds Preparatory Meeting for Cooperation with the Aceh Education Council (MPA)
The Postgraduate School of Universitas Islam Negeri (UIN) Ar-Raniry Banda Aceh held a preparatory meeting for a collaborative program with the Aceh Education Council (MPA) on Tuesday, October 14, 2025, at the MPA office. This meeting marked an initial step toward fostering academic synergy between the two institutions, aiming to strengthen Islamic character development within Aceh’s educational environment.
The meeting was attended by Azwardi, A.P., M.Si, Head of the Secretariat of the Aceh Education Council, and Prof. Dr. Syahrizal Abbas, M.A, Head of the Doctoral Program (Ph.D.) in Modern Fiqh and representative of UIN Ar-Raniry’s Postgraduate School. During the discussion, both parties explored plans for a joint program themed “Strategies for Developing Islamic Character Among Students in Aceh’s Educational Institutions.”
Prof. Dr. Syahrizal Abbas explained that the academic initiative would be carried out in three main stages:
  1. Focus Group Discussion (FGD) – to gather conceptual insights and map out strategic issues related to Islamic character development in educational institutions.
  2. Field Study – to collect empirical data and best practices from schools in Aceh implementing Islamic values.
  3. Research Seminar – to present the study findings and formulate policy recommendations for character-based Islamic education.
According to Prof. Syahrizal, this collaboration represents not only an institutional synergy but also UIN Ar-Raniry’s academic responsibility in supporting the Aceh Education Council’s efforts to strengthen Islamic values in regional education.
Meanwhile, Azwardi, A.P., M.Si welcomed the initiative from UIN Ar-Raniry’s Postgraduate School, emphasizing MPA’s commitment to supporting programs focused on improving the quality of education grounded in Islamic principles.

“We greatly appreciate this collaboration as it aligns with MPA’s vision to nurture a generation of Acehnese who are morally upright, knowledgeable, and competitive,” said Azwardi.

This initiative is expected to become a concrete step toward enhancing cooperation between academic institutions and regional education bodies, as well as generating strategic recommendations for developing Islamic character-building programs for students in Aceh.
